Easy installers. No Rust tools required.

Product key required. Install the app, then launch it to see your device code. Send that code to your license issuer, then paste the key you receive into the activation screen. One activation covers Thunder and Bulletin Studio on that device. Activated copies work offline; internet access is still needed for live weather.

Installation & checksum

Ubuntu 24.04 or newer: open the DEB with your software installer, or run:

sudo apt install ./thunder-radar_2026.09.16.1_amd64.deb

Launch Thunder or Bulletin Studio from your application menu.

Prefer no installation? Download portable ZIP (18.7 MB), extract it and run bash ./run-thunder.sh.

Requires a working X11 or Wayland desktop. This is not an ARM or universally portable Linux build.

Installation, updates & troubleshooting

    Install and activate

    Your download includes Thunder and Bulletin Studio. Launch Thunder, copy its device code and request your activation key.

  2. 02

    Choose your map

    Use the OpenStreetMap fallback or supply your own Mapbox token. Live data and new map tiles require internet access.

  3. 03

    Updates download automatically

    Thunder checks and downloads updates at startup. Choose Restart to update when you’re ready. Automatic downloads can be disabled in Application updates.
